Measure Angles with a Protractor

Discover the magic of measuring angles like a geometry pro!

What is Angle Measurement?

Angles are everywhere!
Angles measure how much something turns or the space between two lines. We measure angles in degrees (°) using a special tool called a protractor. From the hands of a clock to the corners of your notebook, angles help us understand shapes and spaces all around us!

Protractor

How to Use a Protractor

1️⃣ Place the protractor's center hole on the angle's vertex (corner point)

2️⃣ Align the protractor's baseline with one of the angle's arms

3️⃣ Read the number where the other arm crosses the protractor's scale

Let's Practice Together!

Example 2: Draw these angles

Use your protractor to draw:

  • A 90° angle (right angle)
  • A 120° angle (obtuse angle)
  • A 30° angle (acute angle)

Parent Tips 🌟

  • Real-world practice: Have your child find and measure angles around the house - in door frames, book corners, or clock hands.
  • Protractor types: Show both semicircular (180°) and circular (360°) protractors to expand their understanding.
  • Angle hunt game: Make a list of angles to find (30°, 90°, 120°) and turn it into a scavenger hunt!
