Understanding Decimal Numbers
Decimals are numbers with a whole part and a fractional part separated by a decimal point.
When we compare decimals, we look at each digit from left to right, just like we do with whole numbers. The key is to line up the decimal points first!

Parent Tips 🌟
- Money makes it real: Use dollars and cents to practice comparing decimals. Ask "Which costs more: $3.25 or $3.50?"
- Visualize with a number line: Draw number lines to help your child see where decimals fall in relation to each other.
- Play decimal war: Turn a deck of cards into decimal numbers (Ace=1, 2=2, etc.) and play a comparison game where the larger decimal wins the round.
