Reading schedules means looking at times and activities to know what happens when. It’s like being a detective solving the mystery of your day—clue by clue, you figure out what comes next!
First, find the time, then see the activity. Time tells us when, and activity tells us what. Just like morning sun says "wake up!" and dinner smells say "eat now!"
Say it with me:
"Look at the clock, tick-tock-tick-tock,
What do we do? Let’s check our block!"
Here’s a simple schedule:
If someone asks, “What happens at 10:00?” You look for 10:00 on the list and shout, “Playtime!” Great job—you just read a schedule!
1. Use everyday moments—like bedtime or mealtime—to show kids real-life schedules.
2. Make it fun! Draw pictures next to each activity so they can “read” visually too.
3. Sing songs about time: “At 7 we wake, at 8 we eat…”
4. Celebrate small wins: “Wow! You found lunchtime all by yourself!”
