First comes 1, then comes 2, and before you know it, we’ve reached 10! Numbers are friends that love to line up in order.

When we add, we’re putting more into our basket. Adding means getting more! When we subtract, we’re taking things away. Taking away means less!

Say you have 5 apples on the table. If I give you 3 more apples, how many do you have now?

We count them together: 5... plus 1 is 6, plus another is 7, and one more makes 8! So, 5 + 3 = 8. Yippee!

Use everyday objects like fruits or toys to make math hands-on and fun.
Encourage your child to sing songs while counting (e.g., “One, two, buckle my shoe!”).
