First comes one group, then comes another group, and soon you have many groups that are all the same. Multiplication helps us count them quickly!

For example:

• 🍎 If you have 3 baskets with 4 apples in each, how many apples do you have? You can add: 4 + 4 + 4 = 12. Or multiply: 3 × 4 = 12.
