Reading Clocks

Tick-tock! Learn to tell time like a time-telling superhero!

What's the Time?

Clocks help us know when it's time to play, eat, or sleep!
Clocks have two hands - the short hour hand and the long minute hand. The hour hand points to the hour, while the minute hand points to the minutes. When the minute hand points to 12, we say "o'clock"!

How to Read a Clock

1️⃣ Find the hour - Look where the short hand is pointing

2️⃣ Find the minutes - Count by 5s where the long hand is pointing

3️⃣ Put it together - Say "It's [hour] [minutes]"

Let's Practice!

Example 1: What time is it?

Example 2: Match the digital time

4:45

Parent Tips 🌟

  • Make it a game: Ask "What time is it?" throughout the day and reward correct answers with stickers or high-fives!
  • Use real clocks: Point out clock times during daily routines like meal times or bedtime.
  • Create a paper clock: Help your child make their own clock with movable hands to practice setting different times.
