What Are Place Values?
Numbers are like little houses where digits live in different rooms!
Each digit in a number has a special place called its "place value." The rightmost digit is in the "ones" place,
and the digit to its left is in the "tens" place. This helps us understand how big numbers are made!
How Place Values Work
1️⃣ Ones place: Counts single items (1, 2, 3...9)
2️⃣ Tens place: Counts groups of ten (10, 20, 30...90)
3️⃣ Put them together: The tens digit tells us how many groups of ten, and the ones digit tells us how many extra!
Let's Practice Together!

Parent Tips 🌟
- Use everyday objects: Count groups of 10 items (like crayons or buttons) to show tens, then count extra ones separately.
- Play place value games: Write 2-digit numbers on index cards and have your child point to the tens digit and ones digit.
- Make it physical: Use dimes (for tens) and pennies (for ones) to show how money relates to place values.
