Understanding Different Number Forms
Numbers can appear in different forms, but we can compare them all!
Whether it's a decimal like 0.75, a fraction like 3/4, or a mixed number like 1½, we can put them in order by converting them to the same form or by understanding their value on the number line.
How to Order Different Number Types
1️⃣ Convert to the same form (all decimals or all fractions)
2️⃣ Compare place values (for decimals) or find common denominators (for fractions)
3️⃣ Arrange them from smallest to largest or vice versa

Parent Tips 🌟
- Kitchen Math: When cooking, ask your child to help measure ingredients using different forms (½ cup, 0.25 cup, ¾ cup) and arrange them from smallest to largest.
- Number Line Race: Create a giant number line on the floor with tape and have your child place cards with different number forms in the correct order.
- Real-world Comparisons: Compare prices written in different forms ($0.99 vs $1¼) when shopping to practice which is greater.
